The family of James “Jim” Joseph Christoff is mourning the loss of a devoted father, grandfather, businessman, and respected member of the community who passed away peacefully at the age of 87, surrounded by his loving family.

Born on July 14, 1939, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Jim was the son of the late Joseph and Mildred (Vilish) Christoff. Throughout his life, he became known for his dedication to family, hard work, and unwavering commitment to the business he built alongside his beloved wife, Sandra “Sandi” Louise Christoff.

Jim shared 56 years of marriage with Sandi before her passing, and together they created a lasting legacy through Christoff Greenhouses and Farm. For more than six decades, the couple owned and operated the family business, becoming familiar and cherished figures to generations of customers throughout the Pittsburgh region.

Friends and patrons remember Jim as a warm and welcoming presence who genuinely enjoyed connecting with people. Whether greeting visitors at the greenhouse, assisting customers in selecting plants, or sharing stories and laughter at local farmers’ markets, he made everyone feel like part of the Christoff family. His passion for the business remained strong throughout his life, and he continued to play an active role in daily operations until his passing.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Jim’s greatest pride was his family. He was a loving father to Joseph Christoff (Debbra), Jeffrey Christoff (Cynthia), and Jami Jodikinos (Gene Royle). He was also a proud grandfather to James Christoff (Shelby), Kobe Christoff, Tyler Christoff, Aleeya Christoff, Albert Jodikinos (Jocelyn), Joshua Jodikinos (Natalee), and Maria Jodikinos (Benjamin Hysong), and a cherished great-grandfather to Ethan Jodikinos, Elliona Jodikinos, Kaden Hysong, and McKenna Hysong.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife Sandi, and his sister, Barbara Jean Best.
