JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A 34-year-old Middleburg woman was killed Friday evening following a head-on collision on Normandy Boulevard near U.S. Highway 301, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Authorities identified the victim as Allison Bell, who died at the scene after her vehicle collided with an oncoming pickup truck at approximately 5:54 p.m.
According to investigators, Bell was traveling eastbound on Normandy Boulevard when, for reasons that remain under investigation, her vehicle crossed the center line and entered the westbound lanes of traffic. Troopers said the vehicle traveled directly into the path of an oncoming pickup truck driven by a 38-year-old man from Duval County.
Despite the pickup driver’s attempt to avoid the collision, the two vehicles crashed head-on.
Emergency responders arrived shortly after the crash and pronounced Bell deceased at the scene. The pickup truck driver sustained minor injuries and did not require transportation for further medical treatment.
The Florida Highway Patrol reported that neither driver was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the collision.
Investigators continue to examine the circumstances surrounding the crash and have not yet determined what caused Bell’s vehicle to leave its lane. No additional information has been released as the investigation remains active.
