Catherine Walker-Thomas Obituary, Peoria Stabbing: In Loving Memory of Beloved who died in stabbing incident; suspect arrested

PEORIA, Ill. — The Peoria community is mourning the tragic loss of Catherine Walker-Thomas, 36, whose life was cut short following a fatal stabbing on the night of June 2, 2026.

Family members, friends, neighbors, and community residents are grappling with profound grief as they remember a woman whose death has left an irreplaceable void in the lives of those who knew and loved her.

According to the Peoria County Coroner’s Office, Walker-Thomas suffered a fatal stab wound that Coroner Jamie Harwood described as “inconsistent with life.” Despite emergency medical intervention, she succumbed to her injuries shortly after arriving at the hospital.

As the criminal investigation continues, loved ones are focusing on honoring her life, her memory, and the impact she made on those around her.

Fatal Incident Under Investigation

Authorities report that Peoria Police officers were dispatched to the 700 block of North Hightower Street at approximately 10:12 p.m. after receiving a hang-up 911 call.

While responding, officers received additional information regarding a disturbance occurring at the residence. Upon arrival, they discovered Walker-Thomas suffering from an apparent stab wound.

Emergency responders immediately provided medical assistance before transporting her to OSF HealthCare Saint Francis Medical Center in critical condition.

Despite the efforts of first responders and medical personnel, Walker-Thomas was pronounced dead at 10:56 p.m.

Investigators worked through the night collecting evidence and interviewing witnesses as they sought to determine the circumstances surrounding the tragedy.

On June 3, authorities announced the arrest of Keonta J. Williams, who was subsequently charged with first-degree murder and transported to the Peoria County Jail.

The case remains under active investigation.
