Brandon Michael Armstrong, 33, Fatally Stabbed on Ashwood Drive West in Saginaw Township; Suspect Arrested on Open Murder Charge After Video Captured Confrontation

Saginaw Township, Michigan

A deadly stabbing in a residential Saginaw Township neighborhood has left one man dead and another in custody as investigators work to determine what led to the violent confrontation.

Authorities identified the victim as Brandon Michael Armstrong, 33, a lifelong Saginaw Township resident who died after suffering multiple stab wounds during an altercation on the evening of June 4, 2026.

Incident Details

According to the Saginaw Township Police Department, officers were dispatched at approximately 6:04 p.m. to the 4500 block of Ashwood Drive West following reports of a physical fight between two men.

While officers were en route, dispatchers received additional information indicating that one of the individuals had been stabbed. Upon arrival, officers discovered Armstrong unconscious in a driveway with severe injuries to his torso.

Responding officers immediately initiated lifesaving measures until emergency medical personnel arrived. Despite those efforts, Armstrong was pronounced dead at the scene.

Suspect Arrested

Police said the suspect fled the area in a vehicle before officers arrived. Detectives quickly canvassed the neighborhood and collected surveillance footage from nearby residences.

Investigators reported that video evidence helped identify both the suspect and the vehicle involved. The suspect was later located and taken into custody without incident at another location within Saginaw Township.

The individual has been lodged in the Saginaw County Jail on an open murder charge pending review by the Saginaw County Prosecutor’s Office.

Under Michigan law, an open murder charge allows the court to determine whether the facts support first-degree murder, second-degree murder, or another homicide offense as the case proceeds.

Ongoing Investigation

Investigators continue to examine several unanswered questions, including:

  • The nature of the relationship between Armstrong and the suspect.
  • What triggered the confrontation.
  • Whether the knife used in the stabbing has been recovered.
  • Whether alcohol or drugs played a role in the incident.

Police have not released additional details regarding a possible motive.

The investigation is being conducted by the Saginaw Township Police Department with assistance from the Saginaw County Sheriff’s Office and the Michigan State Police.

Remembering Brandon Armstrong

Family members described Armstrong as a devoted son, brother, uncle, and friend who spent much of his life working alongside his father in the family heating and cooling business.

Friends remembered him as someone who enjoyed fishing, spending time with family, and supporting the Detroit Lions. Loved ones said he was known for his willingness to help others and his ability to make people feel welcome.

His family has announced visitation services at W.L. Case Funeral Home, followed by funeral services at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church.

Community Response

The fatal stabbing has shaken residents of the normally quiet Ashwood Drive West neighborhood. Many neighbors expressed shock that such violence occurred in an area known for its family-oriented atmosphere.

Police have increased patrols in the area and continue to encourage anyone with information or surveillance footage to contact investigators.

Next Steps

The suspect is expected to appear in court for a probable cause hearing, where prosecutors will present evidence supporting the murder charge.

Authorities have asked the public to avoid speculation while the investigation remains active and have emphasized their commitment to building a thorough case.

As family and friends mourn the loss of Brandon Michael Armstrong, the community continues to seek answers while remembering a man whose life ended far too soon.
