Kenneth Taylor Injured in Road Rage Shooting That Spanned Multiple Georgia Jurisdictions; Suspect Arrested

COBB COUNTY, Ga. — A road rage confrontation that began on a busy Cobb County roadway escalated into a violent shooting Wednesday morning, leaving a 57-year-old man injured and triggering a multi-agency law enforcement response that ultimately resulted in the arrest of a suspect.

Authorities say the incident unfolded shortly after 11:00 a.m. and stretched across multiple jurisdictions before coming to an end in neighboring Roswell.

The victim, identified as Kenneth Taylor, 57, survived the shooting and is expected to recover from injuries that authorities have described as non-life-threatening.

Road Rage Incident Turns Violent

According to investigators, Cobb County police officers were dispatched at approximately 11:13 a.m. following reports of a shooting connected to a road rage dispute near Woodstock Road and Mabry Road.

Preliminary findings indicate that two drivers became involved in an altercation while traveling through the area. During the confrontation, one of the drivers allegedly opened fire into the victim’s vehicle.

Investigators believe multiple shots were fired during the encounter.

Taylor was struck several times by gunfire while operating his vehicle.

Despite his injuries, he managed to continue driving away from the scene.

Victim Drives to Safety

After being shot, Taylor crossed jurisdictional boundaries into the city of Roswell before stopping near Highway 92 and Laurel Lake Road, where he sought assistance.

Roswell police officers responding to the area located Taylor suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

Authorities reported that he remained conscious, alert, and breathing when officers arrived.

Emergency medical personnel quickly transported him to North Fulton Hospital for treatment.

Officials later confirmed that his injuries were serious but not considered life-threatening.

His ability to reach help after the shooting likely played a significant role in ensuring he received prompt medical attention.

Investigation Leads to Suspect

While emergency responders cared for Taylor, investigators immediately began working to identify the shooter.

Police utilized witness interviews, surveillance footage, and technology available through the Real Time Crime Center to track the suspect’s movements.

Investigators identified a gold SUV believed to be connected to the shooting and determined it was traveling toward Cherokee County following the incident.

Authorities subsequently identified the suspect as Bashir Beal, 47, of Acworth.

The Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office located Beal and took him into custody before turning him over to Cobb County investigators.

Criminal Charges Filed

Following his arrest, Beal was charged with:

  • Aggravated Assault
  • Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Crime

Additional charges may be considered as investigators continue reviewing evidence and reconstructing the events leading up to the shooting.

Officials have not disclosed whether Beal has retained legal representation or entered any plea regarding the charges.

Questions Remain

Although investigators have established a basic timeline of events, several questions remain unanswered.

Authorities have not publicly disclosed:

  • What specifically triggered the road rage confrontation
  • The exact number of shots fired
  • Whether either vehicle contained additional occupants
  • Whether the parties involved had any prior connection

Investigators continue gathering evidence and reviewing available footage in an effort to fully understand the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Growing Concerns About Road Rage Violence

The shooting serves as another reminder of the dangers associated with aggressive driving and road rage incidents.

Traffic disputes that begin as verbal confrontations can quickly escalate into situations involving serious violence, placing drivers, passengers, and innocent bystanders at risk.

Law enforcement officials frequently encourage motorists to avoid engaging with aggressive drivers, maintain distance during confrontations, and contact authorities when they feel threatened.

In this case, investigators say a routine traffic dispute allegedly escalated into gunfire, leaving one man hospitalized and another facing serious criminal charges.

Investigation Continues

The case remains under active investigation by the Cobb County Police Department, with assistance from Roswell police, Cherokee County authorities, and other agencies involved in the response.

Officials continue reviewing evidence and following investigative leads.

Anyone who witnessed the incident or possesses information relevant to the investigation is encouraged to contact law enforcement authorities.

As Kenneth Taylor recovers from his injuries, investigators remain focused on determining the full sequence of events that transformed a roadway dispute into a potentially deadly encounter.
